Window cleaners and guttering firms are in an unusual position: you are already at the property, already looking at the roofline, and already trusted by the homeowner to work at height. Most of the time you spot issues — slipped tiles, cracked gutters, missing mortar — and mention them in passing. A short drone flight and a branded report turns that casual observation into a documented, chargeable service.
The natural upsell
A customer books you to clear the gutters. While you are there, you can offer a roof condition report that shows them exactly what you saw from the ladder, with photographs of every elevation, each defect circled and graded. It is a much easier sell than a verbal warning because the customer can see the evidence themselves and share it with a roofer or an insurer.
What the report covers
- Blocked, broken, sagging or misaligned gutters and downpipes.
- Slipped, cracked, missing or moss-covered tiles and slates.
- Ridge and hip mortar condition, plus lead valley and flashing defects.
- Chimney stack pointing, pots, cowls and adjacent soakers.
- A severity grade per finding so the customer knows what needs attention first.
You do not need to be a drone expert
If you already have a drone and the right CAA permissions, you can fly the roof yourself. If you do not, partner with a local drone operator or ask us to carry out the flight across G, ML and EH postcodes. Either way, the reporting is the same: upload the images, let the AI mark the defects, review the findings, and publish a report with your branding on it.
Be clear that the report is a non-contact visual inspection. You are not claiming to have tested the roof structure or lifted tiles. You are providing photographic evidence of visible condition — which is exactly what most homeowners and roofers want before they decide what to do next.
Pricing and margins
One credit publishes one report. Credits start at £10 each and drop to £7.40 on the 50-credit pack. Most firms sell the report for between £75 and £150, often as an add-on to the clean or as a standalone annual roof health check. The work itself is a short flight and a ten-minute review of the AI findings.
Setting up
Create a trade account, add your logo and brand colour, and process your first job. Team seats let your crew use the same account, so whoever is on site can upload and whoever is in the office can review. The customer receives a clean web report with your details on it — not ours.
