Clear a launch spot
The pilot needs a few square metres of flat, open ground — a driveway, path or lawn away from washing lines and overhead cables. Moving a car off the drive is usually all it takes.
Unlock side gates
If the rear elevation is only reachable through a locked gate or a shared close, leave it open or let us know the code. It saves a rescheduled visit.
Tell us about access quirks
Mid-terrace properties, shared tenement roofs, tight lanes, scaffolding already in place or a factor who needs notice — all worth flagging when you book so we plan the flight properly.
Give neighbours a heads-up
Not required, but a quick word avoids surprise. We only photograph your property, and the report is private to you.
Bring pets indoors
Dogs in particular tend to take an interest in a drone taking off. Ten minutes inside makes the flight quicker and calmer.
Note the problems you already know about
A damp patch on a bedroom ceiling, a gutter that overflows in heavy rain, a tile you found in the garden. Tell us in the booking notes and we will photograph that area in extra detail.
Check the forecast with us
We cannot fly safely in high winds, heavy rain or fog. If the day looks marginal we will call and rebook you for the next suitable window at no extra cost.
Have your claim details to hand
If the survey is for an insurance claim, note the incident date and claim reference. It helps us frame the report around what the insurer will ask for.

How should I prepare for a drone roof survey?

Do I need to be home during the survey?
No, provided we can reach a safe launch point and any gates we need are unlocked. Many customers are at work during the flight and simply read the report when it arrives.
Do I need permission from my neighbours?
No. The flight is planned to stay over and around your own property, and the photographs are private to you. A courtesy word with neighbours is welcome but not a requirement.
What if it rains on the day?
We will not fly in unsafe conditions. If the weather turns we contact you and rebook the visit for the next suitable window — there is no charge for a weather rebook.
Should I clear moss or debris off the roof first?
Please do not. Anything on the roof is part of the picture, and moss build-up or blocked valleys are exactly the sort of thing the survey is there to record.
